Check out The Local 5

Whether you’re visiting for the first time or have spent years in the Greenville area, The Local 5 Newsletter is your one stop destination to find out what you don’t want to miss this weekend in the Upstate.

Every Thursday, we will highlight our ‘top 5 musts’ that will include everything from restaurants, activities, parks, concerts and festivals that are all right here in beautiful Greenville, SC.

One

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Turn Greenville even Greener with this St. Patty's Day inspired bar crawl, organized by PubCrawl.com. Get decked out in your Irish best for costume contests and a night of drinks, food, and fun. Registration gets you a wristband, bar map, and access to loads of specials. It's the St. Patrick's Day Party you don't want to miss. The party starts Friday at 4pm!

Two

Continue the St. Patrick's Day party into Saturday with a fantastic evening of music from 4-7pm at Fireforge Brewery. Listen to the Upstates premier Celtic Rock Pub Band as they play a mixture of traditonal and modern covers. Enjoy locally brewed beer as well, and themed sweets from Bangarang Bakes. It's sure to be a night to remember!

Three

Rounding out your festive weekend, we have to recommend The Trappe Door, one of my personal favorite restaurants that has also been called "the only recommendation you need when visiting Greenville". Enjoy a tour of the British Isles with fish and chips, duck, and other comforting dishes, a huge selection of beers and ales, and a dizzying assortment of homemade mayo to dip those crispy "chips" in. All of this takes place in an underground pub environment. Reservations are highly recommended for this local favorite.

Four

Venture off the beaten path for a souvenir or shopping trip that is sure to be unique by visiting the South East Punk Flea Market. Tickets are $7 at the door and children 12 and under are free. Open Saturday and Sunday from 11:00am-7:00pm, there is plenty of time to squeeze this stop into your trip.

Parties and shopping and St. Patrick's Day, Oh my! If you'd like to bring it down a notch, we highly recommend a visit to M. Judson Booksellers. This gem of a bookshop is located in a historic building right on Main St. With tons of genres to choose from, large swaths of employee recomendations, and an entire section dedicated to Southern Literature, you're sure to find something to take home. Additionally, M. Judson is home to Camilla's Kitchen-- a delicious cafe feauring coffee and local, homemade desserts and pastries.
