Check out The Local 5

Whether you’re visiting for the first time or have spent years in the Greenville area, The Local 5 Newsletter is your one stop destination to find out what you don’t want to miss this weekend in the Upstate.

Every Thursday, we will highlight our ‘top 5 musts’ that will include everything from restaurants, activities, parks, concerts and festivals that are all right here in beautiful Greenville, SC.

One

Join talented local Bluegrass musicians at the idyllic Table Mountain State Park for a jam session where all are welcome to join in. From 2pm - 6pm at the Table Rock Lodge there will be foot-tapping live music for you to sit back and enjoy. Play yourself? Feel free to bring an acoustic instrument and join in!

Two

Join in the fun of this arts and libations festival hosted by a local brewery on Saturday from 2:00-6:30pm. Showcasing 85+ wineries, breweries, and distilleraries from around the world, there is sure to be something for everyone! With local bands for entertainment and plenty of art to enjoy and peruse, The Altered State Festival is not one to miss! Tickets start at $20.

Three

Back for the first time since 2019, join in the fun as the Irish of the Upstate march through Downtown for a colorful parade on Saturday @ 10am. After the parade, enjoy partying like the Irish at the accompany festival at NOMA Square. Festivities are for all ages and will last until 8pm. Festival activities include The Irish Steppers, Pipe & Drum Bands, The Synergy Twins, Drop O' The Pure, and more! And the best part? Admission is Free!

Four

A local favorite you won't want to miss, Tako Sushi's East-meets-West fusion cuisine is sure to impress. Stop in for their Happy Hour from 4pm-6pm on Friday for steep discounts on fish tacos, california rolls, spicy tuna rolls, fish tacos, and drinks. The wait staff is incredibly knowlegeable and won't lead you wrong. A few of my favorites are the Southwest Tuna TarTare, Tempura Asparagus, Sexy Salad, the Super Cruncy Roll, and the Volcano Roll. Reservations recommended for larger parties in the evneing. Closed Sunday

FIve

After a dinner out at Tako Sushi, take a short walk up Main St to Kilwins Greenville, located in NOMA Square near the Hyatt. This fantastic dessert locale features creamy icevream, truffls, chocolate and caramel dipped treats, and the best caramel apple you've ever had! While it isn't quite fall yet, something about the crisp bite of a Granny Smith Apple covered in soft, dreamy caramel just feels right at the turn of the season. The salted caramel oreos aren't too bad either!
