1) Trailside Blazers & Trailside Trotters
Looking for walking buddies? Check out the Trailside Trotters at the Commons. They meet every Tuesday at 6:30pm for a chill, scenic walk on the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Want a non-walking option? Check out the Trailside Blazers at the Commons to join their rollerblading or roller skating squad. They meet every Monday at 6pm. All skating levels are welcome! This is a free weekly event focused on building community and promoting fitness.
2) Kroc Center
Located at the corner of Westfield and Academy Street in Greenville, the Kroc Center is a gym, pool, and fitness center that “has something for everyone.” Check out their recreational pool, basketball/volleyball gym, outdoor playground, fitness center, and/or group fit classes with a two hour guest pass or membership. Note: reservations must be made online to use the recreational pool. Additionally, the Kroc Center offers various sporty classes, such as zumba, yoga, pilates, and more. The Kroc Center is a great way to meet new people in the Greenville community and meet fitness goals!
3) Climb @ Blue Ridge
Reach new heights at Greenville’s indoor climbing center, Climb @ Blue Ridge. They offer affordable rates and packages for the whole family. For example, first timers can visit for $24, and this includes a belay safety check with trained staff and all gear. Another great way to get bang for your buck is to become a member, so that you can enjoy climbing all year round. Meet like-minded individuals during classes like “Grandmaster Sundays,” “Homeschool Climbing,” “Highschool Hangout,” “Beta Babes,” and more. Endure the climb; enjoy the view.
4) Flying Rabbit Adventures
Experience the ultimate ropes course at Flying Rabbit Adventures, adjacent to the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Built on five acres, they offer a three story aerial course, with 60 unique obstacles, such as rope walks, swinging platforms, climbing elements, and zip lines. For those wishing to remain closer to the ground, they also offer a looking deck and bicycle pump track. For the traditional Aerial Adventure Course, Level One Access is $40, and Full Access is $60. They also offer a kids course for $30, so that kiddos don’t miss out on the fun. Rise to the challenge; new memories are yours for the taking!
5) Lake Jocassee Watersports
Devils Fork State Park has it all: crystal lakes, smoky mountain ridges, and thundering waterfalls. It is breathtaking. The fitness opportunities here abound. Visitors can hike, swim, fish, boat, and even scuba dive. But one of the absolute BEST activities to do at Lake Jocassee is to kayak/paddle board. Eclectic Sun offers affordable rentals and friendly staff helps load and unload the rentals. Once on a kayak/paddle board, participants are free to explore the islands and inlets of the lake. Beware, it’s an arm workout.
